Kuntao is a martial art with roots in China and Indonesia that dates back hundreds of years. Kuntao Combat Arts is a powerful, explosive style of Kuntao developed and evolved by Sifu Chris Derbaum in Southwest Florida that has proven itself effective for modern urban and environmental survival.
Chris has over 28 years of experience in the combat arts of Kuntao and Silat. He has taught throughout the United States and internationally in many countries including Singapore, France, Spain and Belgium. He has been employed full-time in law enforcement as a correctional officer for many years, an experience that has greatly influenced the effectiveness and practicality of his Kuntao. He is the author of the book Fighting Patterns of Kuntao and Silat. He has also designed a knife specifically for the movements of Kuntao Combat Arts.
